Meet the Artists

Hi, I’m Adam. I love football. My favorite color is red and making art makes me feel good. Painting inspires me. I would like to make designs for baseball hats and other sports clothing. In the future, I see myself being nice to people. The thing I love most about Monarch is my friends.

Adam lives with his parents in Winston Salem. Adam loves to sing and dance with the music group at Studio 651. He likes to paint in art and likes to help staff keep the art room clean. 

Allan is a creative artist at Reidsville Arts Center.

A native of New York, Angela is an enthusiastic and dedicated participant in the arts program at Studio 651. Her primary interest is in painting, where she exhibits a strong eye for layering and blending colors. Angela lives with her mother in Winston-Salem.

Arnae loves all types of art and enjoys painting, sewing and making wreaths. Her specialty is making beautiful tiles. She is cautious when applying artwork and works hard so that whatever she is creating is perfect. She loves to help her peers and staff.

Hi, my name is Bailey. I enjoy making bracelets and other jewelry. I also enjoy making yarn dolls and painting on canvases. Making artwork helps me feel calm and happy. My favorite colors are red, pink and purple. I like making things that make other people feel happy. I love my time at MCACC because I can work on things that are special to me.

Hi, my name is Beringer, but my friends call me “Ber”. I enjoy painting with all types of media: markers, paints, glue, pastels, etc. I enjoy using stencils and painting freehand. I like making logos and printmaking. I enjoy listening to music and hanging out with my friends at MCACC. My favorite colors are red, black and orange.

Bonnie as she likes to be called, loves going to art and doing Word Find puzzles. She paints simple pictures and will try new things in the studio. Bonnie lives in a group home setting and enjoys coming to Studio 651 every day.

Hi, my name is Brandon, and I enjoy creating things with clay and other materials. I love working in the pottery room with Mr. Milton. I enjoy my time at MCACC and being able to try new things with art. I like to learn new ways to make my art better. I feel calm and relaxed when I am in the pottery room. I was proud to make individual of the month for my work with others in the pottery room.

Brien loves art and enjoys going to art class. He loves to paint pictures with words. He gives thought to whatever he wants to paint and that is reflected on his wall of featured work at Studio 651. Brien lives in a group setting and is very independent. He loves his family and speaks of them often.

Camille enjoys making jewelry; however, she also dabbles in painting on occasion. She is very detailed when doing art projects and will pat herself on the back and say, “I did a good job.” Camille is the oldest in a set of identical twins and lives with her mother and sister in Winston-Salem.

Carmen loves art! She is a daily participant in the art room and a prolific painter. She has a keen eye for texture and uses it often in her artwork and she enjoys using happy colors because she is always smiling and pleasant.

Cliftonette lives in Winston-Salem with her parents. She is very into fashion and loves to shop and get her nails done. Cliftonette is very neat and everything is always in its place.

Chance is one of our talented artists at Reidsville Arts Center.

Danita loves bright colors. She is very detailed when she is painting. Every stroke she does is made with care.

Danita lives with her mother and identical twin sister in Winston-Salem.  

David attends Reidsville Arts Center.

Dawn loves to color with pencils and paints and attending art classes and trying new things on canvas. She uses bright, bold colors which show her personality in her artwork. Dawn lives in Winston-Salem with her mother and her brother.

Donnie is so excited when he goes to art class. When he paints, he loves to show it off even before it is completed. He loves to hear how good his painting is and if he doesn’t hear it first, he‘ll tell you! Donnie lives in a group home in Winston-Salem.

Eric is an experienced painter.  He had taken several painting classes before he started attending Studio 651.  He likes to experiment with paint and is one of our most enthusiastic artists.

Harold is a car and train connoisseur. Anything you want to know about trains or cars just ask Harold. He is a wealth of knowledge in those areas. He enjoys all activities in art, but he really enjoys painting. He loves music especially songs from the Temptations.

Jeremy is non-verbal but can get his point across to you by making different sounds and making facial expressions. Jeremy has a beautiful smile that will melt your heart especially the hearts of the ladies. Jeremy has a terrific sense of humor and likes to laugh.

Jessica attends Reidesville Arts Center.

Jessyca lives in Winston-Salem in a group home. She likes to put on nail polish and also enjoys swimming. Jessyca is a careful painter in art and takes pride in her artwork.

Hi, I’m Jody. I love the pottery, the garden and the art at Monarch. I feel happy when I am creating artwork. Music gives me inspiration. My hobbies are painting, shopping and cutting grass. In the future, I want to do yardwork. I love the colors hot pink and purple.

Johnathan attends Reidsville Arts Center.

Hi, I’m Joshua. My favorite art mediums are acrylic paint, watercolor and upcycling. In the future, I see myself making progress with what I want to be, like art and gaining experiences. Almost anything, but things that are realism that I can recreate into my vision inspire me. My hobbies include drawing, painting, cooking, thrift shopping, walking and eating out. I have a passion for aviation.

Justin is quite a talented artist.  He shows his talent while painting abstracts and has a growing interest in characteristic stick figures.  He originates from Jacksonville, NC, bringing us lots of warm tones and themes.

Karyn lives in a group home in Winston Salem.  She likes to paint and sew in art.  She comes into the art room with a huge smile every day!

Hi, I’m Katie. I love bowling, reading and painting. In the future, I want to live on my own and get a job. I am inspired by believing in God, myself and others. I feel relaxed and like I’m being myself when creating art. My favorite art medium is painting. My favorite memory at Monarch is between dancing, singing and being with my friends.

Ke’la is a go-getter. She dabbles a lot with paints, diamond art and puzzles, but her true passion is jewelry making. She has her own business called “Autistic Vision Collection” where she is the owner and designer. She loves to read and her motto is “Don’t Give Up!”

Lasha attends Monarch’s Reidsville Arts Center.

Kelvin likes to help in art class.  He enjoys painting and is very careful when placing paint on his canvas.  He gives every brush stroke a lot of thought. Kelvin lives with a family in Kernersville. He likes basketball, going on trips and going out to eat.

Michael attends Studio 651 in Winston-Salem.

Michael has a growing interest in art and he enjoys making jewelry. He also dabbles some in painting. Michael has a smile that will light up a room and he enjoys coming to Studio 651 and assisting the staff when needed.

Mr. Nate, as he loves to be called, loves to paint. He enjoys painting animals and gives his little twist to their facial expressions. Mr. Nate has attended the day program for more than 30 years. He is the oldest participant at Studio 651.

Nina attends Reidsville Arts Center.

Renee Green or "Nay Nay" as she likes to be called, enjoys taking part in art class. Renee is a light of sunshine and a breath of fresh air at the Day Program. She has an outgoing personality and she always brings laughter to all she encounters. Renee lives with her parents in Kernersville, NC.

Robbie likes art of all types but especially likes to paint.  Robbie devotes a lot of time helping out in the community.

Roderick was slow to warm to art class in the beginning, but now he loves it! He enjoys painting pictures, and he adds his own little twist to them which makes them unique. Roderick lives with his parents in Winston-Salem.

Rowena attends Reidsville Arts Center.

Sarah lives in a group home in Winston Salem.  She enjoys sewing and painting in art. She also likes to cook and read. Socializing with other participants in the studio is very important to her.

Tim’s interest in art is growing! He is especially engaged in painting but has recently discovered wreath making, so look for new work to come! Tim lives with his brother in Winston-Salem.

Tommy likes to assist his parents and work in the garden.   He is a patient and careful painter in art class. Tommy is a pleasant personality and enjoys coming to Studio 651. 

Traci loves everything about art. She knows what she wants to do and puts it on canvas. She has a lot of ideas and loves sharing them. She sticks with her project until she gets it just the way she likes it. Traci lives with her parents in Winston-Salem.

Warren enjoys creating art and he has an eye for detail! He takes his time with each piece and he is proud of his work. Warren is involved in his church and is in the choir. He loves to laugh and volunteers with Senior Services and Second Harvest Food Bank.
